Kuwait, Tajikistan to discuss boosting ties end of '16
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, May 15 (KUNA) -- Tajikistan's Ambassador to Kuwait Zubaydullo Zubaydov said the Kuwaiti-Tajik joint committee will discuss means of boosting cooperation in its meeting at the end of 2016.
The visit of Tajik President Emomali Rahmon to Kuwait set today, is part of the strong political ties shared between the two countries since 1995. It will also develop relations on all levels, the ambassador said in an interview published by Al-Qabas newspaper today.
He noted that the Tajikistan Embassy is providing Kuwaitis with facilitations in receiving visas, adding that they can also get their entry permits upon arrival in Tajikistan's airports.
Zubaydov mentioned his country's economic cooperation with Kuwait through the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, adding that Tajikistan has seen some prominent improvements in the field.
The country's GDP was recorded at seven percent annually with a drop in poverty rate from 53 percent to 36 percent in 2015, he said. Tajikistan also built hundreds of educational and health institutions as well as developing infrastructure, he added.
Furthermore, Zubaydov spoke of the recent launch of the CASA-1000 project to provide transmission lines to move electricity at high voltages from Central Asia to South Asia. The project will create job opportunities, face the lack of electricity in the South Asia region and develop trade, he explained.
Meanwhile, the ambassador said Tajikistan is exerting huge efforts to cooperate with the international community in facing the growing threat of terrorism.(end) nbs.ag
