Cairo, Sha'ban 7, 1437, May 14, 2016, SPA -- The Arab Journalists Union today confirmed solidarity with the Yemeni journalists association, demanding the Houthi rebels to immediately release Yemeni journalists currently behind bars of the coup regime.
In a press release, issued in Cairo, the Arab Journalists Union also demanded the Houthi militias to desist from using journalists as a shield in their political struggle with others, noting that ten Yemeni journalists are currently arrested and, since the 9th of May, have started a hunger strike, complaining from ill-treatment and vowed to continue fasting until being released.
The statement said the Yemeni journalists under custody are barred from seeing their visitors and deprived from healthy food or proper medicine, a matter that makes their lives susceptible to danger and a wide-range of illnesses.
