Yemeni chief negotiators hold new peace session in Kuwait


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, May 14 (KUNA) -- Heads of delegations of Yemeni warring parties held on Saturday a new session of peace talks in a bid to find a resolution to the country's crisis, in the presence of UN Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmad.

They are set to expose visions and perceptions pertaining to mechanisms and frameworks of political and security issues, including the plight of prisoners and detainees in light of evaluation of the committees' action.

The envoy seeks to bring views of negotiators closer together towards a number of issues so as to reach an agreement on the upcoming steps, a consensus and a resolution to the crisis in line with the agreed written references.

Among topics featuring high on the agenda are the restoration of the country's institutions and resumption of political dialogue as well as military and security arrangements.

Negotiators discuss means to put in place a proposal to release about 50 percent of detainees and prisoners before the beginning of the Holy month of Ramadan, slated for June 6. (Pick up previous) am.hm
