Jordan- Exports of Irbid Governorate decline by 9 percent in April

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Irbid, May 14 (Petra)--Exports of the Irbid Governorate to world markets last April declined by 9 percent standing at $40.2 million, compared to $44.3 million in the same month of 2015.

President of the Irbid Chamber of Industry Hani Abu Hassan attributed the decline to the political and military situation in the region, which led to the loss of a number of export markets. However, he voiced hope that exports will rise in the coming months and that reforms carried out by the public and private sectors will help in removing obstacles facing the national economy. Al Hassan Industrial Estate ranked first in terms of exports with $32.2 million followed by the Cyber City with $4.5 million.

The U.S. market received the lion's share of the total exports with $29.2 million followed by Europe with $1.6 million, while the Saudi and Iraqi market accounted for the majority of exports to Arabian markets.
