Kuwait- US, Jordanian forces to begin Sun. joint military exercise


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON, May 13 (KUNA) -- Some 6,000 US military personnel from air, land, and maritime components will be carrying out a joint military exercise in Jordan next week, the Pentagon announced Friday.

Exercise Eager Lion, one of US Central Command's "premiere exercises," will take place from May 15-24, the Pentagon said.

"Exercise Eager Lion 16 will consist of a week-long series of simulated scenarios to facilitate a coordinated partnered military response to conventional and unconventional threats," the statement said.

"The scenarios developed will include border security, command and control, cyber defense and battlespace management," it added.

Central Command, commonly known as CENTCOM, is the Pentagon's Florida-headquartered task force that oversees operations in the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia. (end) ys.ibi
