NEW YORK, 12th May, 2016 (WAM) -- The Kingdom of Bahrain's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Jamal Faris Al-Rowa'i, has reiterated Bahrain's firm stance on rejecting terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

Addressing the UN Security Council's open discussion session on countering terrorism and its ideologies, Ambassador Al-Rowa'i pointed out H.M. King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's respect for the Cairo-based prestigious centre of learning, Al-Azhar, and its leading role in standing against alien intellectual challenges, as well as its efforts in promoting the ideology of moderation and fairness that reflects the Islamic values of tolerance and rejection of all forms of extremism.

He also noted the need to dry up the sources of finance for terrorism to eliminate terrorists' efforts to recruit foreign fighters.

He pointed out the deterrent procedures and laws on combating terrorism adopted by the Kingdom of Bahrain. He highlighted Bahrain's participation in the international coalition operations against Daesh, in a workgroup on combating financing of this group, and in the international coalition's communication workgroup.

He added that Bahrain has adopted the list of terrorist organisations recognised globally which includes Daesh, Al-Qaeda and the terrorist group of Hezbollah, among others.
