Qatar Takes Part in Electoral Management Bodies Forum

(MENAFN- Qatar News Agency) Cairo May 09 (QNA) - Electoral Management Bodies in Arab Countries Forum kicked off in the Arab League Headquarters on Monday in collaboration with the United Nations and in the presence of representatives from international organizations the European Union the African Union the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) the Arab Parliament and the Arab Organization for Electoral Management Bodies.
The State of Qatar takes part in the Forum with a delegation headed by Major General Majid Ibrahim Al Khulaifi Director of Elections Department at the Ministry of Interior.
Maj. General Al Khulaifi told Qatar News Agency (QNA) the State of Qatar participates in the Forum at the invitation of the Arab League adding that the Forum will discuss the electoral process in the Arab countries in coordination with the United Nations.
The State of Qatar has submitted a paper explaining means of elections management and the Ministry of Interior's management of the electoral process as well as the most important themes that govern the electoral process in the State of Qatar.
For his part Director of Legal Affairs Department of the Ministry of Interior Member of the delegation of Qatar Brigadier Salim Saqr Al Muraikhi stressed the importance of the Forum to promote cooperation between the Arab countries and exchange of experiences in the field of election management.
The three-day Forum brings together a number of international experts who will discuss electoral systems monitoring mechanisms and standards relating to the electoral process he said.
Each State will provide its expertise in the electoral process management he said adding that the Forum will discuss the electoral process according to the proposals provided by each country in order to benefit from the experiences of Arab countries in this area which is the main goal of the Forum.
