Jordan takes part in Paris meeting on Syria


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Paris May 9 (Petra) Jordan on Monday participated in a meeting in Paris on the Syrian crisis held at an invitation by France and Germany with the participation of a number of countries concerned with the Syrian issue.

The meeting discussed efforts to resume negotiations between the Syrian parties and prepare for an international conference on Syria to be held in Vienna next week.

The meeting which brought together officials from Jordan the United States Britain Italy Saudi Arabia the United Arab Emirates Qatar Turkey the European Union and France tackled the latest developments in Syria the need to uphold an agreement on the cessation of military operations and the unfolding humanitarian disaster in Aleppo.

In a speech delivered on behalf of the deputy prime minister and minister of foreign and expatriates affairs Ambassador Nawaf al-Tall renewed Jordan's call to find a political solution that ensures the safety and security of Syria and its territorial integrity with the participation of all components of the people Syria.

He emphasized that should such solution should be based on UN Security Council resolution No. 2254 and the decisions of the Geneva 1 conference.
