UAE- Looking to the future with family as the foundation: paper

ABU DHABI 10th May 2016 (WAM) -- The national initiative to educate families on the importance of solidarity and cohesion is another example of how far the UAE looks into the future and envisions the family as the basis of society commented a UAE daily.

At a time when the institution of family is breaking up around the world the UAE has done well to recognise its importance and take steps to promote its well-being.

"Cohesive Family 2021 puts focus on the solidarity of the Emirati family and lays the groundwork for it being the priority in all national programmes" said Gulf News in an editorial on Tuesday.

Time spent at home among parents and children is reflected in the well-being of the family. When a family is bonded together by love the outcome is reflected in society and the country as a whole. In this regard the initiative reaches across communities and nations. When families are able to sit at the table and talk about issues debate problems and look to the future together there is hope that peace will prevail.

The road to national happiness must be paved with families that are close-knit. There can be no gross domestic happiness if individuals think they can do it without the help of the basic building blocks. Children are taught about the importance of family in schools but the greatest lesson is learnt at home from experience. It is this fundamental truth that the UAE has so wisely seen and decided to promote.

"What lies ahead are many years of hard work but the fruit of the labour will be worth the toil. When the country falls back on families that have as their foundation a sense of bonding solidarity and cohesion the day may not be far when other nations will want to learn from the UAE's unique experience" concluded the Dubai-based daily.
