Qatar- Man held for stealing QR5m valuables from house

DOHA: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested an Arab national for stealing gold and diamond jewellery and watches worth QR5m from the home of a citizen in Doha.

The CID acted after it received a complaint from the citizen that some unidentified people had broken into his house and taken away gold and diamond jewellery and watches worth QR5m while he was abroad.

The CID immediately formed a special team to investigate the case said a report posted on the website of the Ministry of Interior. By collecting evidence and observing suspects in the area where the theft took place the Arab national was taken into custody for interrogation during which he confessed to the crime.

He said he had sold some stolen items and had the remaining in his home which was later seized by the investigating team.

The accused was referred to Public Prosecution which remanded him in police custody for four days for further investigation.
