Yemen Pres. dismayed over reports of forced evictions in Taiz
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RIYADH May 8 (KUNA) -- Yemeni President Abd-Rabbuh Mansour Hadi on Sunday denounced the forced evictions reportedly conducted by the security forces against some citizens in Taiz governorate to the north of Aden - the temporary seat of legitimate government.
"These practices though individual are totally unacceptable" he said during his meeting with representatives of the popular resistance forces associated with the legitimate authorities.
"Such abominable acts could only foment social tensions and sectarian discord thus threatening the national unity. They serve the agenda of the Houthi militia and the coup leader (the former president Ali Abdullah) Saleh" President Hadi warned.
Meanwhile Prime Minister Ahmad Obeid bin Daghr said President Hadi instructed halting "these illegal and unconstitutional practices" upon receiving reports in this regard.
"President Hadi ordered the local authorities to help the persons who were forced to leave their homes to return safely and immediately and resume their normal live" the prime minister said affirming that such practices "run counter to the simplest human rights." In a related development Saudi Ambassador to Yemen Mohammad Al Jaber said the Saudi leaders ordered financing the local committees supervising the UN-brokered truce deal to enable them discharge their duty on the ground appropriately.
The orders fall in the framework of response to a call by the UN Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed for Yemeni stakeholders to ensure commitment to the ceasefire he added. (end) od.gb
