Jordan Germany discuss economic cooperation

AMMAN 7th May 2016 (WAM) -- Minister of Industry Trade and Supply Maha Ali Saturday discussed with Bavaria's Minister of European Affairs and International Relations Beate Merk and her accompanying delegation means of fostering economic cooperation between the two countries.

According to Jordan News Agency PETRA Ali stressed the importance of joint action to boost the level of economic cooperation in many domains including trade investment and technical cooperation.

Such cooperation the minister said include a number of successful programmes and projects between the two countries including the German Jordanian University and other assistance provided to the Kingdom.

During the meeting which was attended by the charge d'affaires of the German embassy in Amman the minister stressed the need for the European Union to agree easing the rules of origin on Jordanian products bound for the EU which came in line with the outcomes of the London donor conference to support Syrian refugees and host communities.

This step she added would generate investments and increase the Kingdom's exports to the markets of the 28 member states of the union the minister further explained.

She also highlighted the need for the international community to support the Kingdom to help it shoulder the increasing burdens borne by Jordan as a result of hosting around 1.3 million Syrian refugees.

The German official expressed appreciation for the Kingdom's role in helping the Syrian refugees despite its already troubled economic situation.

Bavaria is keen in boosting economic cooperation with Jordan as well as strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries in all fields especially in the economic and trade fields she added.
