Turkey- Up day for Wall Street but second straight weekly loss


(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) > Despite stocks closing higher Friday with consumer credit rising well above expectations Wall Street posted its second straight weekly loss.

At the final bell the Dow Jones was up 80 points to 18741. The S&P 500 added 7 points to end the day at 2057 and the Nasdaq gained 19 points to finish at 4736.

Consumer credit in March rose by $29.6 billion from a month ago marking its fastest rise since November 2011. Analysts forecast a $16 billion increase.

Meanwhile gaming and entertainment giantActivision Blizzard Inc. saw its shares climb almost 8 percent while Transocean Ltd.one of the world's largest offshore drilling companies had its shares rise more than 6 percent.

Oil prices rose less than a one percent by the time the final bell rang.

American West Texas Intermediate traded at $44.55 per barrel while Brent crude was around$45.28 at the close of markets.
