Kuwait- ASBU to establish training media academy social media cmte


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) By Khaled Jabbar HAMMAMET Tunisia May 7 (KUNA) -- The Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) has decided to establish a training media academy and the formation of a social media committee for the purpose of serving a unified Arab media strategy Kuwait Information Ministry's Assistant Undersecretary for Media Planning and Development Affairs Mohammad Al-Awash said Saturday.

Al-Awash told KUNA that the new measures were decided during ASBU's 95th executive council meeting in Hammamet north east of the Tunisian capital and will go into effect next December after ASBU's general assembly meeting.

Al-Awash added that the academy will provide high-level training courses in human development and information technology that will benefit media figures and students.

The academy will engage with media experts in the Arab world and will aim at enhancing Arab media.

ASBU meeting also highlighted ways to boost exchange of programs among its entities including Asian and European broadcasting unions.

Last night ASBU honored in a ceremony here Kuwait Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah and a number of Arab ministers for their efforts in improving Arab media. (end) ksj.mb
