Qatari Foreign Minister Russian Counterpart Discuss Situation in Syria

Sochi 5th May 2016 (WAM) - Qatar's Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met today with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov during his current visit to Russia.

During the meeting they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways of enhancing them in various fields and exchanged views on the latest regional and international developments particularly the Palestinian cause and the situation in Syria. They discussed ways to revive the political process adopted by International Syria Support Group Qatar News Agency QNA reported.

The Qatari Foreign Minister underscored during the meeting the role that Russia plays in the region in different regional issues particularly the developments related to the Syrian crisis adding that Russia is a key partner in the International Support Syria Group as it works to push towards resolving the Syrian crisis through a political process.

He stressed on the need for concerted international efforts to put an end to the crimes committed by the regime against civilians amounting to war crimes stressing the need for holding the perpetrators accountable.
