UAE- Let citizens be priority Shaikh Sultan tells regional leaders


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Humanity must always come before politics in the decision making process according to His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.

Shaikh Sultan also urged leaders and decision makers in the region "to make the interests of nations and citizens their top priority" during a meeting with Dr. Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah Sultan of the State of Perak Malaysia.

Jawaher calls for economic empowerment kuala lumpur - A business forum attended by Shaikha Jawaher bint Mohammad Al Qasimi wife of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi the Ruler of Sharjah Chairperson of Women Advancement Establishment (Nama) and Honorary Chairperson of the Sharjah Business Women Council (SBWC) highlighted the need to empower Muslim women in all spheres.

Organised by Nama in collaboration with the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce (MICCI) the forum was held with the aim of exploring ways to empower women in the Middle East and Southeast Asia and to advance their role in all walks of life.

The event which was the first forum of its kind between businesswomen from Sharjah and Malaysia featured a series of discussions that touched on ways to empower women and strengthen their role in economic and social life.

Shaikha Jawaher said: "There is an urgent need to continue advancing Arab and Muslim women on the economic level. Without women's essential role in development a community loses an important precious resource.

"This is why Sharjah has been keen to provide all forms of support for women through its many initiatives most notably the Nama which is dedicated to advancing women in the economic sector and providing them with training and advice."

Shaikh Sultan who was on Malaysia visit met Dr. Shah at the Palace of Perak where the two leaders discussed current developments in Muslim countries with a focus on refugee crisis.

They called for urgent international action to protect refugees and alleviate their problem.

The Ruler of Sharjah and Sultan of Perak reiterated how the UAE and Malaysia are actively involved in promoting dialogue among countries on the global stage.

Shaikh Sultan also lauded Malaysia's role in promoting Islamic economic values in the world which he said contributed to the increased demand for Islamic finance from all countries due to its ethical principles.

Dr Shah who also serves as Malaysia's Special Envoy for Interfaith and Inter-Civilisational Dialogue praised Sharjah's leading experience in promoting interfaith and inter-cultural dialogue.

Shaikh Sultan presented the English copy of his book 'Under the Flag of Occupation' to Dr Shah at the end of the meeting.

After the meeting Shaikh Sultan headed to the University of Malaya located in the southwest of Kuala Lumpur for a special visit.

The University of Malaya is the oldest and most esteemed university in Malaysia. First established in 1905 its name was abbreviated as Malaya during the pre-independence period before the adoption of the official name of Malaysia which came into existence when the country unified in 1963.

Shaikh Sultan toured the university's campus facilities where he was briefed about its notable achievements especially in the science and technology arenas.

Shaikh Sultan was accompanied by Abdullah Mattar Al Mazroui UAE Ambassador to Malaysia; Badr Jafar Chief Executive Officer of Crescent Enterprises and founder of Pearl Initiative; Erum Mazhar Advisor at the Executive Office of Shaikha Jawaher Al Qasimi and Mariam al Hammadi Director of 'Salam Ya Seghar' an initiative of the Big Heart Foundation.
