Walmart challenges China's key online retailers

(MENAFN) Walmart, the American retail giant is expanding its offering of imported goods into China with the launch of Global E-Buy, a cross-border e-commerce service that exists within the Walmart China app.

There is an increasing demand among Chinese consumers for foreign goods, particularly those from the U.S. as more than 60pcrt of Chinese customers are willing to pay more for products made in the U.S. than those made in China.

In particular, Walmart is thoroughly trying to exploit this desire, but it faces intense competition from JD.com and Alibaba, two Chinese commerce giants who are also making efforts to focus on foreign-made goods.

Walmart has been pushing its e-commerce business in China by first assuming total control of Yihaodian, its e-commerce retail site based in China, after it purchased the remaining shared from Chinese financial services group Ping An.
