Qatar- Al Arabi to face Police in Emir Cup semis


(MENAFN- The Peninsula) Action from the quarterfinal game of the Emir Cup volleyball tournament at the Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiya Arena yesterday. Al Arabi defeated Qatar SC 3-0 to make it to the semi-finals.

Doha: Police and Al Arabi won their respective quarterfinal matches to qualify for the semi-finals of the Emir Cup volleyball.

Yesterday at the Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiya Arena both Police and Al Arabi coasted to straight sets and will clash in the best-of-three semi-finals.

In the first match of the day Police defeated Al Gharafa 3-0 (25/15 25/6 and 25/20) to book a place in the last four stage of the championship.

In the second match Al Arabi defeated Qatar SC 3-0 (25/19 25/17 and 25/18). The other semi-final will be a repeat of the Qatar Cup final between Al Rayyan and El Jaish which the former won in a dramatic five-set thriller.

On Tuesday Al Rayyan trounced Al Sadd 3-0 (25/15 25/17 and 25/18) to qualify for the last four stage. In the other quarter-final El Jaish got the better of Al Shamal 3-0 (25/19 25/22 and 25/21).

The best-of-three semi-finals will be played on May 7 9 11

The final will be played on May 13 at the Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiya Arena.
