Oman- MSM30 slips after coming under pressure

The MSM30 index came under slight pressure on Wednesday and the benchmark declined 0.07 per cent to 5979.75.

Trading activity was weak as turnover and volume fell 73.79 per cent and 55.6 per cent to RO3.66mn and 20.96mn shares respectively. Interest however remained in defensive stocks. Out of 46 stocks traded eight closed higher while 24 slipped and 14 held stable.

The Services sub-index inched up 0.77 per cent at 3300.17 while the Financial and Industrial indexes closed down 0.5 per cent and 0.22 per cent respectively at 7788.02 and 7195.68. The MSM Shariah Index edged up 0.04 per cent to 883.97.

Top gainers on the bourse included Global Financial Investment (+7.41 per cent) Renaissance Services (+7.01 per cent) and National Gas (+6.54 per cent) while laggards included Gulf Investment Services (-4.44 per cent) Al Hassan Engineering (-3.96 per cent) and Galfar Engineering (-3.33 per cent).
