S. Korea reports weak harbor freight in Apr

(MENAFN) Mostly driven by a decline in exports and imports, the cargo processed at South Korean seaports deteriorated from a year earlier in the prior month, based on reports.

In more detail, the nation's seaports handled a collective 111.878 million tons of freight last month, down 0.4 percent from 112.272 million tons tallied a year earlier.

South Korea's outbound shipments dropped 12.2pct on-year in April, marking the longest-ever successive negative growth of 14 months, amid low oil prices and China's plummet.

But the February slip contracted from January's 18.8 percent, the largest on-year fall since August 2009, attributed to a recovery in shipments of computers and machinery.
