Intra-Yemeni peace talks to resume

KUWAIT 4th May 2016 (WAM) -- The three Yemeni negotiating teams are expected resume the peace talks later today three days after the government delegation suspended their participation in the talks UN Secretary General's Special Envoy for Yemen Ismael Ould Cheikh Ahmed announced late last night.

The Kuwait News Agency KUNA said that the representatives of the Yemeni government the General People's Congress and Ansarullah movement renewed their commitment to backing the recently-launched truce monitoring committee in its efforts to prevent recurrence of hostilities nationwide in collaboration with local committees.

They agreed that the committee will work on solving the difficult field problems inspect the situation at the headquarters of Al-Maleqa Brigade and report on any breaches of the ceasefire within 72 hours Ismael Ould Cheikh Ahmed said at a press conference.

He thanked Kuwait's Acting Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and GCC Secretary-General Abdullatif Al-Zayani for their efforts over the last two days to advance the peace talks. He reaffirmed the UN support to the Yemeni peace process and the relief effort for the Yemenis trapped in the conflict.
