UAE- Gargash honours winners of Sultan bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation

DUBAI 4th May 2016 (WAM) -- Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Sultan bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation has honoured a number of cultural and literary personalities for their academic and literary contributions.

The winners of the foundation's awards now in its 14th edition were honoured in a ceremony which was attended by Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Mohammad bin Nasser Al Owais Minister of Health and Prevention Prince Bandar bin Saud Bin Khalid Deputy Secretary-General of the King Faisal Charity Foundation Saeed Mohammed Al Naboodah Executive Director-General of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority a number of academics and members of the board of trustees at the foundation.

During a speech at the ceremony Dr. Gargash said that the conclusion of the 14th edition of the awards is a timely occasion to remember the late poet Sultan bin Ali Al Owais who expressed his pride and his love of Arabic eloquence and culture through the establishment of the foundation which acknowledges and honours creative writers and poets.

The minister added that the success of the institution is a result of great moral support given by the country's leadership led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates who helped the development and continuation of such foundations and other cultural institutions in the UAE.
