Indonesia seeks to surge fish exports to control price


(MENAFN) Indonesia plans to ship more fish abroad to increase price at local market as output hikes considerably on the back of a decline of illegal fishing, based on reports.

The Indonesia has a large territory, but only three sea ports facilitating fish exports so that the cost of transport to the export gates is high and the period of shipment is also long.

In accordance, the South-East Asian nation is working hard to determine which other sea ports will facilitate the fish export, which ultimately reverse the unfavorable prices decrease.

Additionally, Indonesia's fish outbound shipment touched USD4 billion over last year and is anticipated to climb to USD6.8 billion this year, based on data from the fishery ministry.
