Qatar- Deal to support orphans in Gaza

DOHA: Qatar Charity (QC) Qatar Development Fund (QDF) and Welfare Association ‘Palestine’ signed a cooperation and partnership agreement to support orphans in Gaza.

Two agreements already have been inked between QC and QDF to create job opportunities for youths in Jerusalem and for “planning”.

Yousef bin Ahmed Al Kuwari CEO QC Khalifa bin Jassim Al Kuwari General Director QDF and Faisal Sami Al Alami Chairman Board of Trustees Welfare Association signed the agreement.

There is an increasing need for childhood care in Palestine especially in the light of the challenges and difficulties the Palestinian people is facing.

Civic organizations are playing important role in offering aid and help to the Palestinian people; as part of the international and regional mechanisms of solidarity. There is utmost need for joint cooperation between humanitarian and development organizations to reinforce their abilities to face the challenges that face humanitarian and developmental work in Palestine.

The agreement aims at coordinating between the efforts exerted by Rofaqa initiative carried out by QC; and Wajd program implemented by Welfare Association; so as to double their contribution to serving the orphans in Gaza.

Through Rofaqa QC seeks to provide sponsorship for Wajd’s 2127 orphans. It will do so through promoting the program locally and internationally according to its procedures. In addition QC will organize promotion campaigns to introduce Wajd program so as to allocate the necessary funds in accordance with a plan designed for both parties to follow.

Qatar Development Fund offers technical and financial support helps in allocating resources and follows up with the execution of the cooperation plans. Welfare Association reviews the situation of orphans in Gaza coordinates with related public offices executes the work plans and prepares the follow-up reports.

QC had launched ‘Rofaqa’ initiative as a humanitarian attempt to look after children in general and orphans in particular around the world. The programs it offers contribute to protecting those children from whatever threats they face. As for Wajd program it was launched after the last war on Gaza in 2014 with the support of QDF to help orphans postwar.

After the signing of the agreement Khalifa said “The partnership between Wajd program and Rofaqa initiative has a great impact on the development of charity and humanitarian work regarding orphans. Qatar Development Fund believes in the essential role of partnerships to level up charity work through the exchange of expertise and the joining of efforts in order to achieve the desired goals”.

Yousef bin Ahmed Al Kuwari CEO QC said “the agreement signed today aims at coordinating efforts between Qatar Development Fund Qatar Charity and Welfare Association to help the vulnerable groups.
