Morocco Committed to Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals: Ambassador


(MENAFN- Morocco World News) Morocco has already started the implementation of sustainable development goals (SDGs) by establishing policies in this area according to an inclusive and integrated approach said on Tuesday in Rabat Morocco’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Omar Hilale.

“As far as the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Morocco is already ahead thanks to a proactive vision in terms of sustainable development and to an integrated and inclusive approach” said Hilale who was speaking at the opening of the national consultation workshop on the contextualization of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development in Morocco.

To ensure its own development Morocco has adopted several policies and strategies in various fields such as renewable energy infrastructure the fight against poverty and social exclusion health education and transportation he noted.

Hilale also recalled Morocco’s participation in SDGs consultations noting that the Kingdom has actively taken part in launching this process.

He noted that the kingdom which has significantly contributed to the work of SDGs Working Group has particularly advocated the mainstreaming of human rights in these objectives. Hilale added that Morocco also led the negotiations on international trade and development chapter.

He underlined the crucial importance of strengthening the capacities of developing countries in the field of statistics to monitor the implementation of SDGs in these countries.
