Quortus Shortlisted for Judges Choice Award at Small Cell Forum Small Cell Industry 2016 Awards

(MENAFNEditorial) Pioneering Mobile Edge Computing solution developed with partner ACS recognized by judges

Guildford UK – 28th April 2016 – Quortus today announces that its pioneering work in mobile edge computing (MEC) with partner Applied Computer Solutions (ACS) has been shortlisted for the judge’s choice award by The Small Cell Forum in the annual Small Cell Industry Awards. This marks the fifth year running that Quortus has been named a finalist.

The company has been shortlisted for its ‘Mobile Edge Computing for the Enterprise’ solution successfully demonstrated with ACS at Mobile World Congress in February 2016. The companies showed how MEC can be used to deliver ‘digital media as a service’ – delivering media voice and data services in diverse scenarios such as enterprise communications healthcare and public spaces such as shopping malls and sports stadia. The demonstration leveraged Quortus’ MEC-aligned versions of its EdgeCentrix virtualized core network products along with ACS’ powerful controller platform and MEC appliances.

The award winners will be announced at the Small Cells World Summit where an awards ceremony presentation will be held on 11th May. The full list of awards categories and finalists can be found at: smallcellforum.org/events/awards/shortlist-2016/

The Quortus / ACS joint entry is the industry’s first MEC-aligned enterprise-focused solution. It demonstrates how MEC can be used to cost-effectively and flexibly enable communications services which are difficult or impossible to realize using traditional network architectures.

At scale MEC appliances have the potential to allow operators to use their networks more efficiently a key consideration given the exponential growth in demand for data as data-heavy device availability continues to grow. MEC can also create new opportunities for monetization providing onsite premium services to enterprise. Higher delivery speeds and lower network latencies also benefit content providers; customer organizations and end users see better integration between IT and communications infrastructure advanced services with outstanding ease of use and dramatically enhanced quality of experience (QoE).

Quortus will be at Small Cells World Summit 10-12 May at the Intercontinental O2 Hotel London.
