Crude oil slides as OPEC production nears peaks

Profit takes hit the oil markets overnight with investors reducing exposure to oil as production from OPEC nears all time highs.

The front month West Texas Intermediate contract settled down 2.5% at US$44.78 a barrel.

Brent was trading down 3.2% at $45.85 a barrel.
