Jordan developed modern media strategy says minister


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Kuwait May 2 (Petra) -- Minister of State for Media Affairs and Government Spokesman Mohammed Al Momani stressed that the status of the Arab media requires a closer look at future challenges implementation of available media strategies to create new and constructive ideas.

In his key note at the 13th session of the Arab Media Forum which was held Sunday in Kuwait Momani called for creating effective mechanisms and re-considering media content provided to the public.

Momani also urged to confront media outlets that practice provocative strategies that aim to negatively affect the minds of young people and increasingly pose a threat to the safety of communities .

Everyone underscored the influence of media and the power of news coverage in various developments that took place in the Arab world top of which was the threat of terrorism and takfiri ideology the minister added.

The minister highlighted the need to exert efforts to forge a new and effective media mechanisms to stop the flow of such destructive and radical ideologies that target the minds of our young generation.

Jordan has developed a modern media system in line with modernization approach adopted by the government in the political economic and social fields.

The Kingdom's media strategy is based on our moral religious and national values Momnai stressed.

Jordan he explained has adopted a policy of openness on all media outlets and was the first Arab country to introduce the Access to Information Law in its legislations.

This law facilitates the task of the journalists and obligates all officials to provide them with required information he further explained. More...
