Cambodia logs 13pct surge in garment exports over Q1


(MENAFN) Garment and footwear sector, Cambodia's biggest foreign currency earner, has witnessed a 13-percent jump in export through the first three months.

The Southeast Asian nation's shipped out goods touched USD1.55bn during the January-March timeframe, up from USD1.37bn over the same period last year.

Garment and footwear sector represents 80 percent of the country's total export and the sector is comprised of 1,007 factories with nearly 754,000 workers.

Furthermore, in 2012, the exports climbed to USD4.61bn, up 8pct over 2011, and in the 1st half of 2013, the garment industry logged exports worth USD1.56bn.
