S. Korea's virtual sales hike 21pct in March


(MENAFN) Online shopping sales in South Korea raised 21 percent in March from a year earlier on solid sales of clothes and electronic devices, as the latest reports showed.

Statistics Korea declared that the overall online transactions touched USD4.5 billion through the third month of the current year, compared with USD3.7 billion a year earlier.

Purchases made through smartphones, tablets and other mobile gadgets also surged 50.6pct on-year to USD2.3 billion to account for 51.6pct of all online sales in February.

In March, USD496.8 million worth of garments were sold online, up 20.7 percent from a year earlier, while sales of electronics jumped 23.3 percent on-year to USD474 million.
