Graduates not qualified for available jobs

(MENAFN- Arab Times) None of the current graduates are qualified for the available job slots in the central employment system of the Civil Service Commission (CSS); whereas the governmental authorities need a total of 9,536 employees with various fields of specialization and 4,709 of the 16,000 who are jobless graduated from different colleges, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The daily obtained these figures from files of educational and labor market bodies in the last five years in a bid to highlight the weak points and identify deficiencies in guiding students to pursue the fields of specialization required by the local labor market. According to the latest statistics, the number of graduates reached 56,000 and 23,000 of them graduated from universities, including 125 dentists. The report disclosed that health institutions are in need of 1,770 medical staff with different fields of specialization.

Also, the number of graduates from the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) totaled 33,000 and most of them are specialized in education. College of Commercial Studies Dean at PAAET Dr Asaad Al-Zaid admitted that the educational sector has deteriorated, while Director of the Budget and Job Placement Department at the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Bader Al-Hamad revealed that the commission has requested for suspension of some courses because the local labor market does not need them.
