Sohar Power Co said one of the power units at its plant tripped while in operation with initial inspection revealing damage to the unit.

'Sohar Power Co and its operator are working to overcome this situation by organising the required repairs and returning the unit to service as soon as possible' Sohar Power said in a disclosure to the Muscat Securities Market on Sunday.

It said while the technical issue partially affected power production capacity water production has not been hit.

'This incident will impact the operational and financial performance of the company in 2016. Further information about the expected completion of repairs and the corresponding financial impact will be provided as soon as available' the company added.

On February 23 electrical issues caused Sohar Power's plant to trip interrupting the supply of power and water to its networks.

The company then said that the unexpected situation was quickly overcome and the plant could be progressively restarted the following day. It had said the financial impact from the incident was expected to be in the range of RO150000 to RO250000.
