Recently-crowned domestic league champion Fanja remained at the bottom of Group D after it was held to a goalless draw by the visiting Syrian club Al Jaish in their AFC Cup match at the Seeb Sports Stadium on Wednesday.

The draw meant Fanja has collected just two points from its five games and has an uphill task to advance with its last group game against hosts Al Muharraq in Bahrain on May 11. Al Jaish is third with four points from four games and Palestine's Ahli al Khalil is second with five points.

Bahrain's Muharraq has already advanced to the round of 16 from the group after a 1-1 draw against Ahli al Khalil on Wednesday.

The Palestinian club is now second with five points. Earlier in the day Oman's Al Arouba suffered its third loss to stay at the bottom of Group C with just four points from five matches.

It lost 1-2 to Syria's Al Wahda in Saida Lebanon. Group leader Air Force Club of Iraq with nine points from four games was playing a late match against Palestine's Al Dharia.

Wahda is second with six points from four matches. Dharia has three from three games.
