UAE- Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi meets with senior officials in Azerbaijan

BAKU 28th April 2016 (WAM) -- Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qassimi Chairman of Sharjah Media Centre has confirmed that the centre's keen interest in expanding its cooperation with the international community with a view to strengthen the bonds of communication and cultural exchange.

He stressed that the centre always seeks to achieve cooperation with international community in line with the directives of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.

This came when the Sharjah Media Centre's delegation headed by Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qassimi accompanied by Tariq Saeed Allay Director of Sharjah Media Centre visited a number of government agencies of Azerbaijan on the sidelines of the Centre's participation in the 7th Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilisations (UNAOC) which is being held in the capital Baku from 25 to 28 April.

The delegation held several meetings with a number of senior officials in Azerbaijan in which the two sides discussed mutual cultural relations and ways of developing them as well as mechanisms of joint cooperation and promotion of the activities carried out by the Emirate of Sharjah in Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijani side praised the historical and cultural approach of the Emirate of Sharjah expressing its appreciation for the various achievements being accomplished by the emirate.

The delegation has also met with the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov who briefed the delegation on the experience of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation which began its activities since 2004 and aims to build a new society that contributes to the social and economic development.

The Sharjah Media Centre's delegation visited the Azerbaijan State News Agency (AZERTAC) and met with its Director General Aslan Aslanov in order to exchange experiences and strengthen cooperation between the two sides.

Sheikh Sultan referred to the role of media communications to increase cultural rapprochement between the two sides which is reflected on building bridges of cooperation in various fields including tourism and the establishment of joint ventures.

Aslanov expressed his appreciation for the initiatives of the Sharjah Media Centre and welcomed the increased cooperation ties and media convergence between the two sides referring to the fruitful cooperation between the Emirates News Agency(WAM) and the Azerbaijan News Agency (AZERTAC) at the global media level.
