Oman- 41st Arab Deaf Week marked

The activities of the 41st Arab Deaf Week held under the slogan 'Let me hear through my own eyes...together live' concluded on Tuesday under the auspices of Dr Said al Amri education media advisor in the Ministry of Education (MoE).

The five-day event was organised by MoE represented by the department of special education programmes and the directorate general of educational programmes a release said.

The closing ceremony was attended by Ali al Dhehli director general of educational programmes staff from special education programmes department administrative and teaching staff students parents and committee members. The ceremony was held at MoE'sauditorium in Wattayah.

Speaking at the closing ceremony Zulaikha al Zedjali headmistress Al Amal School for the Deaf said 'The interest in special education has gone up in the sultanate. The ministry is making lots of efforts to improve the quality of education provided to children with special needs.

'The belief is that education is one of the best humanitarian investments in society. The ministry represented by the directorate general of educational programmes and the department of special education programmes is keen on providing an effective learning environment.' Later Dr Amri honoured 20 graduates belonging to the ninth batch of the Special Education Diploma programme at the Al Amal School for the Deaf. He praised the participating institutions and committee members for ensuring the success of the 41st Arab Deaf Week.
