Oman- Muscat Road Runner series: Nick Conlan emerges chion

Nick Conlan emerged as the overall champion in the 6km opening race of the Muscat Road Runners (MRR) summer series.

It took place at Bausher near the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex recently. Conlan finished in a time of 22 minutes 49 seconds in the challenging race.

Edward Black finished runner-up in a time of 23m20s and Hamed al Mahrooqi came third in a time of 24m35s.

Among the women runners who participated in the same event Irene Ng'eno was the best finisher and claiming the overall tenth place in a time of 27m49s.

In the 3km junior race that was held alongside the 6km event James emerged winner in a time of 15m09s and Syke took the runner-up position in a time of 23m04s.

The summer series comprises a total of six races all being off-road events. The next race is scheduled for May 4 beginning at 6pm.

Race one results: Men: 1 Nick Conlan 22m29s 2 Edward Black 23m20s 3 Hamed al Mahrooqi 24m35s. Women: 1 Irene Ng'eno 27m49s 2 Sally Hart 28m08s 3 Anne Menard 29m45s.

Men's veteran: 1 Salah al Wahaibi 27m43s 2 Derek Solecki 28m28s 3 James Shorter 28m49s. Women's veteran winner: Francesca Aub-Robinson 32m20s; super veteran winner: Cesare Porta 33m48s.
