Kuwait- ATO stresses importance of sharing municipal expertise among GCC states

DOHA April 26 (KUNA) -- Secretary General of the Arab Towns Organization (ATO) Ahmad Al-Sabeeh underlined the need of the 9th Gulf Municipal Work Conference to share distinguished and successful expertise among GCC member states.
This develops and improves services of GCC states' municipal councils he told KUNA on the sidelines of participating in the conference on Tuesday.
Such Gulf meetings contribute to promoting the joint Gulf action and activating agreements signed in this regard as well as coping with the latest developments of the municipal action he said.
The conference is a key event which is held annually in one of the capitals of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) during which information and expertise are shared through presenting several working papers and researches in all specialties that interest municipal councils he noted.
He referred to the conference's key sessions on the areas of engineering environment architecture technique and administration.
He said that the organization seeks during participation in municipal conferences to obtain information and cope with the latest developments of Gulf municipal council.
It also seeks to increase coordination with all municipalities of Arab countries and provide them with modern studies and expertise as well as hold joint meetings to share successful experiments he stressed.
The three-day conference includes several seminars and lectures pertaining to sustainable development infrastructure utilities and investments.
It features heads of municipal councils specialists and those interested in municipal action.
The event discusses some main axes on implementing sustainable development goals the partnership between the public and private sectors in carrying out municipal projects and the role of municipalities in achieving sustainable development and urban planning and development.
The conference also deals with technological challenges and means of harnessing them so as to achieve sustainable development and promote voluntary action in GCC municipal councils. (end) nnd.hm
