Vestas keen to invest in Iran's power segment

(MENAFN) Vestas, the Danish manufacturer, seller, installer, and servicer of wind turbines, is currently looking into the possibility of collaboration in Iran's energy sector.

The Aarhus-based firm cooperated with SUNA (Iran Renewable Energy Organization) for a workshop on April 18 and 19 that showed the benefits of wind energy.

Additionally, renewable energy currently accounts for less than one percent of the Islamic Republic's energy basket, and the nation relies heavily on oil/gas as energy resources.

Iran has a more favorable climate than Spain where 25pct of the national energy is supplied by wind turbines, 20,000 megawatts of which were installed by Vestas before 2010.
