UAE- India set to offer smooth travel experience

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Tourists to India will soon enjoy an even more hassle-free experience as the country improves on its tourism e-services.

Speaking at a Press conference at the Arabian Travel Market 2016 tourism officials disclosed that several new initiatives were in the works to improve and streamline the process for e-tourist visas. Currently the e-tourist visa is available to tourists from 150 countries though more countries will soon be added to the service.

Another hurdle towards a smooth travel experience in India has been removed with the introduction of e-ticketing for monuments. This will help visitors wanting to visit archaeological sites in the country by ensuring that they don't have to wait in long queues.

Apart from this several other initiatives undertaken by the Indian Ministry of Tourism include areas such as infrastructure development publicity promotion and marketing and the development of niche tourism products.

A total of 28 participants from India are currently taking part at ATM 2016 under the 'Incredible India' banner. The theme chosen by the Ministry of Tourism for this year's event is 'Yoga and Wellness'. The number of foreign tourists visiting the country in recent years specifically for medical treatments has been on the rise.

In addition the number of foreign tourist arrivals in India during 2015 was 8.03 million registering a growth of 4.5 per cent over 2014. India currently has a target of increasing its share of international tourist arrivals from the present 0.66 per cent to at least one per cent by the year 2017.

Officials at the Press conference noted that the Gulf and Middle East regions are important markets for India with the UAE KSA Oman and Yemen registering a significant growth in the number of tourist arrivals.
