Qatar- RAF tops Foreign Tracking Services 2015 List of donations for Syrians

DOHA: Sheikh Thani Bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) topped the list of Foreign Tracking Services (FTS) 2015 in terms of donation provided by non- governmental organisations (NGOs) to Syrian people battling for survival due to unrest in their country.

FTS is an organization for tracking global humanitarian aid flow on the basis of information provided by donors and appealing organizations. The organization is running a website as a platform to post the details in a spreadsheet showing the donations pledged and made by the states or charity organizations for people affected by unrest or natural disasters.

“The figure given by FTS shows that RAF ranked first among the NGOs provided humanitarian aid to Syrian people in 2015” said Dr Ayed bin Dabssan Al Qahtani Chairman Board of Trustees and General Director RAF in a meeting with Rashid Khalikov United Nations Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Partnerships for the Middle East and Central Asia.

“RAF executed many projects pertaining to relief health educational and housing worth about QR400m for Syrian people internally displaced and those sheltering in neighbouring countries and Europe during past five years” said Al Qahtani.

RAF received overwhelming response from the philanthropists in Qatar for the charity projects offered to them for finance he added.

RAF has a fruitful partnership with United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) for the implementation of humanitarian projects especially those related to send aid in Syria and Yemen he added.

OCHA set up at UN in response to complex emergencies and natural disasters in all over the world.

Before implementing any project for Syrian people RAF conducts a field survey in collaboration with OCHA to know actual need at ground.

Then local partners are being involved to disburse the urgent aid and construct the projects.

The move aims to reach every governorate of Syrian where the people are in need of urgent humanitarian aid like foods medicines and shelters.

Our achievement motivates us to do more for our Syrian brothers at their tough time. We are committed to keep continue in our efforts to ease their suffering said Al Qahtani.

“RAF has set up a role model for humanitarian organizations worldwide in delivering humanitarian aid and charity works specially in the fields of health education and sheltering” said Khalikov.
