Qatar- Crowne Plaza appoints General Manager

Doha: Marcus Sutton (pictured) has been appointed as General Manager of the 378-room Crowne Plaza Doha – The Business Park effective this month.

He brings with him a close to 17 years of experience in the hospitality industry working in London Abu Dhabi Jordan and Dubai.

In his most recent role as the general manager for Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi Marcus led the team in the hotel growth in all sectors putting the Crowne Plaza Abu Dhabi at the forefront of the country’s hospitality industry.

Prior to that he was hotels manager for Crowne Plaza Dubai Festival City and InterContinental Dubai Festival City.

During his stint both hotels were ranked No. 1 for their brands in the IMEA region for overall guest experience.

Marcus joined the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) in 2011 as executive assistant manager handling the rooms division at the Crowne Plaza InterContinental and InterContinental Residences Suites Dubai Festival City.

Originally from Australia Marcus went to Macquarie University and the International College of Management in Sydney Australia and Institut Hotelier Cesar Ritz in Le Bouveret Switzerland.

He is married with two children and enjoys outdoor sports including kite surfing running and competitive stand-up paddle boarding and travelling.The Peninsula
