China's Shanxi plans to obtain huge gas assets


(MENAFN) North China's Shanxi is planning a mass utilization of shale gas reserves as the province, the country's largest coal producer, based on recent reports.

In accordance, after more than two years of measuring, geologists projected that the province has a shale gas reserve of a whopping 4.44 trillion cubic meters.

Known as the "sea of coal," Shanxi has produced more than 14 billion tons of coal throughout the previous six decades, a quarter of the country's total production.

Additionally, the world's second largest economy contains nearly 26 trillion cubic meters of shale gas reserves, thus considered the largest in the world.
