UAE- Ministry of Culture marks World Book Day

ABU DHABI 25th April 2016 (WAM) -- Afra Al Sabri Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development has said that celebrating World Book Day was an important part of the ministry's agenda for 2016 and featured more than 120 major events to meet the request of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan who declared 2016 a 'Year of Reading' in the UAE.

Al Sabri also said that all events organised by cultural centres affiliated with the ministry to mark the day were under the sponsorship and follow-up of Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development who stressed the importance of the occasion for creating a culture of reading in the country.

The events of World Book Day attracted the participation of more than 2500 people including school and university students to nine cultural centres across the country.
