Brazil reports largest March Joblessness rate in 25y


(MENAFN) Brazil witnessed an overall loss of 118,776 formal jobs in March, the biggest monthly decline in a quarter of a century for the same month, based on recent reports.

According to the latest statistics and data, nearly all segments of the economy recorded job losses, excluding the public administration, which had 4,300 new hires.

The commerce division suffered the most, losing 41,978 jobs, while industry shed 24,856 people, thus bringing the total number of job losses for the 1st quarter to 319,150.

Additionally, from last year's March to March 2016, South America's largest economy has lost at least 1.85 million jobs as the economic recession continues to bite.
