(MENAFN- Arab Times) Residents of Shuwaikh Residential Area Wednesday night held a candlelight vigil in Tahaluf Garden in Block 1 to protest against the decision of Kuwait Municipality and Ministry of Electricity and Water to establish new electrical transformers inside public gardens, reports Al-Qabas daily.

During the event, Kuwaiti citizen Abdulaziz Sultan Al-Essa said installing such electrical transformers in public gardens negatively impacts Kuwaiti citizens who come to the gardens to enjoy fresh air and some quiet time away from the busyness and noise of the city.

He demanded the relevant authorities to refrain from taking such decisions that affect the public gardens.

Another citizen Ghada Al-Essa said the concerned authorities are choosing wrong locations to install electrical transformers, indicating about a huge transformer inside a garden in Block 4 where Ministry of Electricity and Water and Kuwait Municipality placed a temporary fence around it due to which almost three quarters of the total park area has been taken up for this purpose.

She urged officials from Environment Public Authority and the Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources to take necessary steps against such actions which affect people and the environment.
