12 PKK terrorists killed in operations in SE Turkey


(MENAFN- The Journal Of Turkish Weekly) Twelve PKK terrorists were killed on Tuesday during Turkish security forces' anti-terror operations in the southeastern provinces of Mardin Sirnak Hakkari and Bingol.

In a statement on Wednesday the Turkish General Staff said eight terrorists were killed in Yuksekova district of Hakkari province. In total 196 PKK terrorists have been killed in the current round of operations in the district.

In another operation in Nusaybin district of Mardin province one PKK terrorist was killed bringing the total number killed in the district to 275.

The Turkish army also killed one PKK terrorist in Sirnak province on Tuesday. A total of 219 terrorists have been killed in the province so far.

Separately two terrorists were killed in Genc district of Bingol province.

According to a Bingol Governorship statement the terrorists were killed during ongoing operations on the outskirts of Bingol's villages of Servi and Gercekli.

Several weapons were also seized during the operations the statements added.

Meanwhile military intelligence led Turkish security forces to seize a bomb-laden car on Wednesday in Ercis district of the eastern Van province the Van Governorship said in a statement.

The statement added that security forces warned the driver to stop but he refused leading the security forces to blow out the car's tires.

After detaining the driver the security forces disposed of the car in a nearby rural area under tight security.

The PKK – also seen as a terrorist organization by the U.S. and the EU – resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015.

Since then over 400 members of the security forces including troops police officers and village guards have been martyred and more than 3700 PKK terrorists killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
