Qatar- Top QSL quadruplet to spice up spectacular contest

(MENAFN- The Peninsula) FROM LEFT: Al Sadd’s Hassan Haydoos El Jaish’s Abderrazak Hamdallah Lekhwiya’s Yusef Msakni and Al Rayyan’s captain Rodrigo Tabata are expected to score flurry of goals in the upcoming Qatar Cup.

Doha: The Qatar Cup is set to kick-off on Sunday with the top four sides in Qatar looking to battle it out to lift the famous trophy on April 29 at Al Sadd Stadium.

While thrilling battles are on the cards for the coveted trophy the four leading QSL scorers are expected to spice up the eagerly-awaited tournament.

The Peninsula takes a look on the quadruplet.

Rodrigo Tabata (Al Rayyan)

Al Rayyan’s talismanic captain has enjoyed the best season of his professional career in the 2015/2016 QSL season.

The attacking midfielder is the joint top goal scorer in the league registering 21 goals in 24 QSL games.

Tabata at times looked unplayable this season and pushed his Al Rayyan side all the way to the QSL title for the first time in 21 years. Central to Tabata’s game is his high intensity work rate along with a deadly eye for goal.

His partnership with fellow attackers Sergio Garcia and Sebastian Soria has blossomed his year and could be argued as the QSL’s most deadly attacking trio this year.

Al Rayyan and their passionate fan base will be willing Tabata to be amongst the goals when Al Rayyan face Lekhwiya in the first semifinal of the Qatar Cup on Sunday at Al Sadd Stadium.

Abderrazak Hamdallah (El Jaish)

El Jaish spent big money on Abderrazak Hamdallah last summer and the Moroccan striker hasn’t disappointed in his debut QSL season. El Jaish’s number 9 finished up as the joint top scorer with 21 goals in 23 QSL games.

Hamdallah is no stranger in scoring goals and boast impressive stints in Norway and Chinese side Guangzhou R&F.

He has been the missing piece for Sabri Lamouchi side and his goals helped the solders finish in second place in the QSL standings. Hamdallah indeed did score one of the goals in the 2-2 draw with Al Sadd which confirmed second place.

Jaish boast the enviable record of reaching every Qatar Cup final since its inception three years ago. Sabri Lamouchi will be hoping Hamdallah can uphold this record when El Jaish take on Al Sadd on Monday evening.

Hassan Haydoos (Al Sadd)

Qatari international captain Hassan Haydoos has enjoyed a fine individual season with Al Sadd registering 12 goals in the QSL season. The mercurial winger has enjoyed his highest goal return in his eight years with the Wolves.

Blessed with blistering pace and composure when it matters Haydoos is masterful at taking teams on the break.

Crucially Haydoos has built up an understanding with Spanish midfielder Xavi Hernandez which could be crucial if Sadd are to lift the Qatar Cup this time around. With Al Sadd playing at their home advantage they could be turning to home-grown hero Haydoos to supply the goals.

Yusef Msakni (Lekhwiya)

Yusef Msakni has been the main man for Lekhwiya in front of goal during the 2015/2016 QSL season. The Tunisian international registered 14 goals in 23 QSL starts this term.

Msakni’s versatility in playing as a false nine or on the right wing has helped head coach Djamel Belmadi who has chopped and changed his side over the course of the season. Msakni is a player who enjoys cutting in and scoring goals and his clinical finishes aided Lekhwiya to fourth spot in the QSL standings. Djamel Belmadi’s side will be looking to retain the Qatar Cup this season. The tricky Tunisian may hold the keys to success when Lekhwiya take on Al Rayyan on Sunday the 24th of April when they take on Al Rayyan in the first Qatar Cup semifinal. The Peninsula
