Oman- The Jungle Book wows audiences of all ages

Disney's latest live action movie The Jungle Book is attracting both old and the young alike to theatres.

Directed by Jon Favreau the film which mixes live action with computer generated imagery (CGI) has conjured up Rudyard Kipling's jungle setting in a manner that has left audiences worldwide mesmerised.

A remake of the 1967 animation classic the film is being praised for its spot on casting and special effects. The all-star voice cast includes Bill Murray Sir Ben Kingsley Idris Elba Lupita Nyong'o Scarlett Johansson and Christopher Walken plus newcomer Neel Sethi as Mowgli (the feral child). 'The response has been tremendous and it is running to packed houses ever since it released. Our theatres in Azaiba Mall and Panorama Mall too are witnessing a good crowd. We expect the trend to continue in the coming weeks' said a senior official of City Cinema.

An official from VOX Cinemas also said the 105-minute film is making waves with children and adults alike. 'The film is a hit with both young and the old. It was quite crowded during the weekends' said the official. After watching this remake of the 1967 animation film Reshmi Singh a fifth grader said 'It was an incredible experience to see animals talk and behave like human beings. I liked Mowgli the most. He is not just cute but also brave. He thinks like me. Among animals the big and friendly Baloo the bear is my favourite.'

Reshmi's brother Rohit's favourite however was Bagheera the panther. Bagheera's agility and his role as Mowgli's guide is what made the panther appealing to him. 'The 3D effect made the film even better. My sister was very scared of Ka the python. With its forked tongue green skin and hypnotic eyes Ka looked quite intimidating. But it was quite thrilling.'

The captivating journey of the man-cub has struck a chord with many nostalgic parents who were at the theatres to relive the old tale with their children.

Zaheer Khan a resident of Ruwi said he has some cheerful memories associated with the 1967 film. 'I had seen the earlier animation film on television decades ago as a child in India. And now I am here to watch its remake with my two children. The special effects were awesome and every frame made me relive my childhood.'
