DOHA: Tunisian artist Malik Hamza Saeed has opened his solo exhibition ‘Plants throughout ages decorating palaces’ at Katara.

The exhibition includes a number of paintings and art pieces reflecting nature in addition to wooden sculptures and carvings of birds animals and other art forms.

“This exhibition is perceived as an opportunity to raise public awareness on how people in the community can add a touch of art and beauty to their homes by using natural components and materials as a decoration style in their palaces and apartments.

“All my work here is made of natural materials and objects including dried plants but with new techniques that give life and naturalness to the plants used” the artist said.

He added: “I regard both my painting “Horizon” which portrays the surface of Doha in a horizontal line with a vast green background and another painting inspired from the Hanging Gardens of Babylon in ancient Iraq to be the most important paintings of this exhibition.

“There are several wooden sculptures and carvings that have also attracted the attention of visitors.

:It took me three months to prepare for this debut and I once again thank Katara for this amazing opportunity and for hosting my exhibition to create better public understanding of this kind of beautiful art.”

The exhibition is open until April 29 at Katara Building 22.
