UAE- An exclusive journal to promote Arab heritage


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) To promote Arab heritage all over the world the Sharjah Institute for Heritage (SIH) launched a quarterly journal on Monday.

The SIH held the launch of Heritage (Al Maourth) journal at Al Bait Al Gharbi as part of the World Heritage Day celebrations which falls on April 18.

Abdulaziz Almusallam Chairman of the Sharjah Institute for Heritage said: "The mission of this journal is to publish studies and research about Emirati and GCC heritage to Arab readers with the aim of filling the gaps in this area."

"We are proud that this journal has been issued under the direction and support of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah."

Dr Saleh Al Huwaidi Managing Editor of the magazine said: "The journal welcomes all critical approaches and academic and research contributions that address topics of cultural heritage."

The journal has five sections: Studies Articles Translations Symposiums and Books. Writers from the UAE Morocco Egypt Iraq Tunisia Algeria and Syria have contributed to the first edition of the journal.

Writers of the first issue included Dr Abdulhamid Borau Dr Mohammed Hassan Abdulhafiz Dr Ali Haddad Dr Mustafa Yali Dr Al Alia Maa Al Ainain Dr Mohammed Qasim Numa Prof Ibrahim Mahmoud Dr Emad Binsula Prof Ahmed Mohammed Obaid Dr Mohammed Al Jarti and Dr Abdulrahim Jiran.
